I graduated from Texas Tech University with a Bachelor of Arts in English and Psychology. I worked for both Alvin ISD and Brazosport ISD. I have been a Read 180 teacher, an interventionist, an English as a second language teacher, a gifted and talented teacher, and an English language arts teacher. I also taught English and reading at Brazosport College to aid students in attaining their GED in the evenings.
During my 20 years as a teacher, I was a mentor to countless young teachers and won Teacher of the Year in 2020 at Lake Jackson Intermediate. I also received the ASSIST Scholarship in 2020 and 2021 and won the Outstanding Hispanic Teacher of Brazoria County in 2022 as well as the Education for Excellence Grant Award. Although my career has been devoted to helping students in the classroom, I wanted to do more. I went back to school and received my master's degree in school counseling from Grand Canyon University and am now a Licensed Professional Counselor providing individual counseling in the evenings.
I have also written several young adult fiction novels that deal with adolescent concerns. I am constantly advocating for parents, students, and staff. I strive to help not only my students but the community I live in as well. I’m excited to work with the Morgan ISD community.
