Assessments

There are many assessments the school district uses. Some of them are required by the state while others are assessments we provide for the students. Below is a list of tests given throughout the school year.

  1. STAAR – (State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness) Students are required to take these assessments in grades 3 to 8. EOC exams are given to high school students for Algebra I, English I & II, U.S. History, and Biology.
  2. TSIA – (Texas Success Initiative Assessment) Students must take this exam before enrolling in a college-level course. It is designed to assist colleges and universities in determining if a student is ready to take college-level courses.
  3. SAT & ACT Tests – These tests are often used to determine whether or not you are admitted to the college/university of your choice. They also provide information on whether or not a student is ready for reading, writing, or math college-level classes.
  4. CBE – Credit by Exam tests are given to students who feel they have exceeded high school courses such as Spanish.
  5. CLEP Test – College Level Examination Program – Tests given by the College Board that gives you credit for what you already know at a fraction of the cost. For example, if you excel at math, you can take the CLEP test for Math and earn college credit with just one exam. (This test is only given at a college or university)

There may be other tests you may have to take depending on your circumstances.
