Counselor's Corner Home
I graduated from Texas Tech University with a Bachelor of Arts in English and Psychology. I worked for both Alvin ISD and Brazosport ISD. I have been a Read 180 teacher, an interventionist, an English as a second language teacher, a gifted and talented teacher, and an English language arts teacher. I also taught English and reading at Brazosport College to aid students in attaining their GED in the evenings. Although my career has been devoted to helping students in the classroom, I wanted to do more. I went back to school and received my master's degree in school counseling from Grand Canyon University and am now a Licensed Professional Counselor providing individual counseling in the evenings through MYS Counseling & Assessment.
For more than 20 years, I have had the honor of serving students, families, and school communities in a variety of educational roles and have been honored to receive several awards that recognize my dedication:
- Teacher of the Year 2020 Lake Jackson Intermediate
- ASSIST Scholarship winner in 2018 and 2019
- Outstanding Hispanic Teacher of Brazoria County in 2022
- Education for Excellence Grant Award recipient in 2022
- ESC Region 12 Lonestar Counselor of the Year 2024
While these recognitions are deeply appreciated, the greatest reward has always been the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of others. I have also written several young adult fiction novels that deal with adolescent concerns. I am constantly advocating for parents, students, and staff.
I strive to help not only my students but the community I live in as well. I’m excited to work with the Morgan ISD community.
